About Reiki

What is Reiki and what are the benefits?
What does a Reiki treatment involve?
Distance Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese technique which reduces stress, induces relaxation, and promotes healing of the whole being i.e. mind, body, emotions and spirit. It is a simple but powerful technique that has been practised for thousands of years.
The word 'Rei' has been generally accepted to mean universal. Other interpretations include higher consciousness, spiritual wisdom or higher self. The word 'Ki' means life energy, vital life force or universal life force. This is the non physical energy that animates all living things. If ones life force is low, or if there is some kind of restriction or block, we become more vulnerable to illness. Life force energy has an important role in everything we do including out emotions, thoughts and spiritual life. The spiritual wisdom (Rei) guides the life energy (ki) to where it is needed in and around the body. Therefore, Reiki is defined as spiritually gifted life energy; energy guided by its own wisdom. A reiki practitioner is simply a channel for the healing energy to flow through them. they facilitate the opportunity and potential for complete healing to occur on all levels; the mind, body, emotions and spirit.
Reiki is both powerful and gentle and has been used to aid the healing of virtually every known illness. This includes cancer, multiple sclerosis, heart disease and chronic fatigue syndrome. As well as skin problems, cuts, bruises, headaches, colds, flus, sore throat, aches and pains, fatigue and insomnia. Additionally, it can help with anxiety, depression, grief, anger and panic attacks. As well as improving memory, self confidence, positive emotions and providing understanding and meaning to situations. It works in harmony with, and to improve all kinds of other treatment and therapy. You can continue to receive regular medical or psychological treatment while receiving Reiki.
If it is your first treatment with me you will be asked to fill in a consultation form and send it back to me prior to your treatment. On the day, the reiki session starts before you arrive, I prepare and cleanse the space and myself. When you arrive we begin with a conversation, which will include topics such as, what to expect or anything you would like me to particularly focus on. You then have the options to choose an oracle card. The healing then commences. Usually this starts with you lying on your back and turning onto your stomach towards the end, when asked. But if this is not comfortable for you, please let me know and we can discuss alternatives. At the end of the treatment you will be given a glass of water to drink and I will feedback the information I received during the session. This could include physical sensations, areas that had high or low energy, messages or images. After you leave, the space will again be cleared and I will document the key points of session. All documentation and information will be kept in line with GDPR principals. I recommended you drink plenty of water and get adequate rest for the remainder of the day.
Distance Reiki works in largely the same way as a in person treatment. You have the options of a 'real time' distance treatment. Where we agree a time for treatment and you find a relaxing place to receive the treatment as I send it. The other option available is to select a time you wish to receive the healing and I can programme it to be received at that time, even though I am not sending it at the same time. A popular choice is when you know you will be resting or when you are asleep. If your session is to improve relaxation it is essential it is at a time you are resting and not when you are completing a task, for example, driving a car. However, you may choose to have a session for a specific situations, for example, to improve cognitive function or confidence for an interview. In which case you do not need to be resting. But I would suggest we discuss this together to find the best time.
You do not need to change position during treatment, I recommend find a position that you find comfortable. As you are not in person you will not be able to choose an oracle card yourself, but I can pick one for you after the treatment if you wish to include this in your treatment. We will also agree on how best to communicate the information, for example, voice notes, phone call or message. It is very important that after the treatment you drink plenty of water and get adequate rest for the remainder of the day.
